Nicholas Roerich(Russian, 1874 - 1947)

Nicholas Roerich created a distinctive world of mountains, ancient legends, and spiritual journeys. Filled with luminous color, his paintings often feel less like direct landscapes and more like visions of distant realms.

His fascinating career moved across countries and disciplines. After training at the Imperial Academy of Arts in Saint Petersburg, he spent his most important years traveling through the United States, Central Asia, and India. Alongside painting, he became famous for creating the Roerich Pact, a historic international agreement dedicated to protecting cultural treasures during war and peace.

In the final decades of his life, the majestic peaks of the Himalayas became central to both his art and his deep worldview. He left behind a powerful, multifaceted legacy that beautifully bridges the worlds of high art, ancient mysticism, and global peace.
